Spring is coming! And with spring comes spring clothing. My favorite thing about spring is that now there is no more layers, no more bundling up, and no more cold days. All there is is sunny,or sometimes rainy, days. Therefore, we get to wear short shorts and sundresses; sundresses being my personal favorite. Here are some great ones at inexpensive prices:
Living in New York exposed me to so much growing up. I knew I needed to go to an Ivy League College at the age of five. I had an SAT tutor starting in seventh grade. I lived on Fifth Avenue until I graduated from my private all-girl school in the city. I have a summer house in the Hamptons and a ski house in Aspen. I had to maintain my A average while still spending time with my friends and various boyfriends. It was stressfull to stay the least.
Living in New York is completely the same still in my twenties. I have to balance work and parties. I go out to my family’s houses on the weekends. Now I live downtown so the crowd I hang out with is a bit different but I never just limited myself to the Uptown. Now the only times I go uptown is to see my family or friends or go shopping on Madison. Alot of the time for magazines, I have to go down Madison to shops like Oscar de la Renta, Chloé, or Valentino. It does vary from time to time from gowns to sweats, which of course I would not be finding at Dior. Basically, the clients give me a look like “April Showers Bring May Flowers” and a budget and then I would look for floral sundresses or cute rainboots for a few days before the shoot. On the other hand if someone like Dior was to hire me, then I wouldn’t go shopping before and instead when I get there I would match outfits together for different shoots. That’s all for now.

My schedule from day to day changes. No matter what career I’ve persued, I have always looked for three things first. It must be in New York, be creative, and have a flexible schedule. I would hate going in to work day after day doing the same 9 to 5 everyday. Before with journalism, I was a columnist so I basically made my own schedule which ended up being party all week and then, pull a article out of my ass Monday night before it was due on Tuesday at noon. Now with styling I get called a few days before the shoot, giving me just enough time to go shopping for the clients or pick up some dry-cleaning they got done. Loads of people ask me how I can work on a schedule I don’t even know until just a day or two before and honestly, I love it. I love last minute changes and the adrenaline you get when you are rushed. It all makes my life a bit more interesting. Plus, I absolutely love my job, which makes every thing a bit easier.

1. My name is Jessica Samuel.
2. I am twenty-six years old.
3. I’ve lived in New York all my life, except for the four years of my life that I spent at college.
4. I went to Georgetown majoring in Art History and minoring in English Literature.
5. I’m currently working as a Fashion Stylist for clients such as J Crew, Miu Miu, Teen Vogue, Nylon, and Urban Outiftters.
6. That basically means that I pick out the outifts for the ads or spreads.
7. I am currently single but I do like two boys very much right now so we will see how that goes…
8. I have never written a blog before but my friends all have and it looked like tons of fun.
9. I am very unpredictable. Last week I flew to Venice for four days because it was rather cold in New York and I had no plans for the next few days.
10. I am awful at saving money. I just saw Confessions of a Shopaholic in theaters (I liked the books better) and the whole time I felt like I was looking in the mirror, just I have blonde hair not red and I don’t know Hugh Dancy, unfortunately.
11. One of my favorite things to do is curl up on my sofa with some popcorn and a movie. I love all types of movies – it all just depends on my mood. Some nights are Audrey Hepburn nights (Roman Holiday) or drama nights (Blood Diamond) or the most common of nights: romantic comedy nights (Love Actually).
12. If I’m not watching movies, I’m watching Sex and the City. I’m obsessed. I’ve seen every single episode. I also love some current tv shows, although not many. My favorites are The Office, 30 Rock, Pushing Daisies, The United States of Tara, House and SUV.
13. I have no idea how I could ever live anywhere other than New York City. I love traveling to new places. My brothers have managed to move out of the city btu I really couldn’t ever. I love New York. All my friends and family are here and my work is here too, but mostly the reason I have stayed is that now my heart is here in New York.
14. Honestly, the main reason I became a fashion stylist is because I was ten thousand dollars in debt and being as stubborn as I am, was not going to allow my parents to pay it off. Plus, I have a family friend who works for Nylon and therefore, could get me into the whole business of it all. So I quit trying to become a journalist and started doing this.
15. I am obsessed with fashion.
